The Charity Grants Committee has approved grants to 4 charities based within the Metropolitan area for medical research. These charities are:
• Action on Hearing Loss – awarded a grant of £79,500 over 3 years for a research project, ‘Improving the understanding and diagnosis of auditory processing disorder (APD).’
• Arthritis Research UK – awarded a grant of £90,000 over 3 years for a research project, ‘The role of the microbiome in rheumatoid arthritis.’
• Brain Tumour Research – awarded a grant of £150,000 over 3 years for a research project, ‘Epigenome of neural stem cells and high grade gliomas.’
• Kidney Research UK – awarded a grant of £144,690 over 3 years for a research project, ‘The role of inflammatory macrophages in accelerated atherosclerosis during chronic kidney disease.’
